Mother's Porridge

A comforting porridge made with oats, whole milk, and spices, simmered to creamy perfection and topped with nuts and fruits.

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine rolled oats, whole milk, and water. Stir well.
  2. Place the pot over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt to the pot. Stir to combine.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the oats are tender and the porridge is creamy, about 20 minutes.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and let the porridge sit for a few minutes to thicken.
  6. Serve the porridge in bowls, topped with sliced almonds, raisins, and banana slices.

  • Soak almonds in water for 2 hours to soften them before slicing.
