Stewed Fruits

A simple stewed fruits dish using a variety of dried and fresh fruits simmered with spices and citrus zest.

Instructions

  1. Combine the dried apricots, figs, and prunes in a large bowl.
  2. Add the sliced apples and pears to the bowl with the dried fruits.
  3. In a large pot, combine the water, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  5. Add the fruit mixture to the pot and reduce the heat to low.
  6. Simmer the fruits gently for 30-40 minutes until they are tender.
  7. Stir in the honey and vanilla extract, and let the mixture simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Remove the pot from heat and let the stewed fruits cool slightly before serving.

  • Soak the dried apricots, figs, and prunes in warm water for 1 hour before cooking.
