Apple compote

Prepare homemade jam using fresh fruits, sugar, and lemon juice, cooked until thickened and stored in sterilized jars.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine strawberries and sugar. Stir well and let it sit for 1 hour to macerate.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a large pot and add lemon juice. Stir to combine.
  3. Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.
  5. If using pectin, add it now and stir well. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Test the jam's consistency by placing a small amount on a cold plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it's ready.
  7. Remove the pot from heat and carefully pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving a small gap at the top.
  8. Seal the jars with lids and let them cool to room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.

  • Sterilize jars by boiling them in water for 10 minutes.
