Sausage Bread

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In a skillet, cook the sausage until browned. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent. Let it cool.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a border. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seams to seal. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden crust. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the bread cool slightly before slicing and serving.
