Chicken Divan is a casserole dish made by layering cooked chicken and broccoli, topped with a creamy sauce and baked until golden.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 5 minutes, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for 2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually add whole milk and chicken broth to the roux, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper into the sauce until the cheese is melted and smooth.
  6. Arrange the cooked chicken breast slices and steamed broccoli in a baking dish.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the chicken and broccoli.
  8. Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the top of the casserole.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
