Baked Alaska
Baked Alaska is a dessert with sponge cake, ice cream, and meringue, baked briefly to brown the meringue.

Instructions
- Place the sponge cake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the softened vanilla ice cream evenly over the sponge cake, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Freeze the cake and ice cream until firm, about 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar to the egg whites, beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Fold in the vanilla extract gently into the meringue.
- Remove the cake and ice cream from the freezer and cover completely with the meringue, sealing all edges.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the meringue is golden brown.
- Serve immediately or return to the freezer for later serving.
Prep
- Soften vanilla ice cream at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
- Freeze the assembled cake and ice cream for at least 2 hours.
