Broccoli & Cheese Casserole

Prepare a broccoli and cheese casserole with fresh broccoli, cheddar cheese, and a creamy sauce, baked until golden.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Steam the broccoli florets for about 5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the whole milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add half of the grated cheddar cheese to the sauce, stirring until melted. Season with salt and black pepper.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the steamed broccoli with the cheese sauce. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs over the top of the casserole.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
