Green Bean Casserole

A baked casserole combining green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the whole milk and chicken broth until smooth.
  6. Add the soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the sauce, stirring continuously until it thickens.
  7. Combine the blanched green beans with the mushroom sauce and transfer to a baking dish.
  8. Top the casserole with fried onions and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
