Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté in the bacon drippings until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet and toss to coat with the onion and garlic mixture.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and cover the skillet. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until the green beans are tender.
  6. Stir in the butter, cooked bacon, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Serve the green beans hot as a side dish.
