Hachis parmentier
Hachis parmentier is a French dish made by layering seasoned minced beef with creamy mashed potatoes and baking until golden.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.
- While potatoes are boiling, heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions, carrots, and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef to the pan, cook until browned. Stir in thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the beef mixture for 10 minutes, then remove the bay leaf.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter and warmed milk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the beef mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, and sprinkle with grated Gruyere cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
