Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion, carrot, celery, and minced garlic. Sauté until vegetables are soft.
  2. Add ground beef and pork to the pot. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon.
  3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes. Add red wine and let it reduce by half.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and whole milk. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux. Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper to make béchamel sauce.
  6. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish. Cover with lasagna sheets, then a layer of béchamel sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with béchamel.
  7. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  8. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
