Baked Ziti

Baked ziti is a pasta dish prepared by layering cooked ziti with a meat sauce and cheese, then baking until bubbly.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
  2. Cook the ziti pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the chopped basil.
  7. In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked ziti, half of the meat sauce, and half of the ricotta mixture. Repeat the layers.
  8. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with remaining chopped basil before serving.
