Pasta with Pesto Sauce

Prepare pasta with homemade pesto sauce using fresh basil, pine nuts, and parmesan cheese for a flavorful meal.

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the pesto sauce. In a food processor, combine basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, grated parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  3. With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Drain the cooked spaghetti, reserving a cup of pasta water. Return the spaghetti to the pot.
  5. Add the pesto sauce to the spaghetti, tossing to coat evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Serve the pasta with additional grated parmesan cheese on top, if desired.
