Prepare a classic homemade pizza with a yeast-based dough, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and your choice of toppings.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then knead into a smooth dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal parts.
  5. Roll out each dough portion on a floured surface to form a pizza base.
  6. Spread tomato sauce over the pizza bases, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  8. Add pepperoni slices, bell pepper, and mushrooms as desired.
  9. Drizzle a little olive oil over the toppings and bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve.
