Fatteh

Fatteh is a Middle Eastern dish made by layering toasted pita, chickpeas, and yogurt sauce, garnished with pine nuts and parsley.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Spread the pita bread squares on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  2. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. In a serving dish, layer the toasted pita bread squares at the bottom.
  4. Spread the cooked chickpeas evenly over the pita bread layer.
  5. Pour the yogurt sauce over the chickpeas, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
  6. In a small pan, melt the butter and add the toasted pine nuts. Stir until the pine nuts are well coated with butter.
  7. Drizzle the butter and pine nuts mixture over the yogurt layer.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Prep

  • Soak chickpeas overnight if using dried chickpeas.
