Roti is a simple flatbread made by mixing whole wheat flour with water and cooking on a griddle.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Qty. | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Whole Wheat Flour (sifted) | 500 | Grams |
| Water (room temperature) | 300 | Milliliters |
| Salt (fine) | 1 | Tsp |
| Ghee (for brushing) | 2 | Tbsp |
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, kneading continuously until a soft, pliable dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
- Flatten each ball slightly and roll it out into a thin circle about 15 centimeters in diameter using a rolling pin.
- Heat a griddle over medium-high heat. Place a rolled-out dough circle onto the griddle.
- Cook until small bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown spots appear.
- Remove from the griddle and brush with ghee. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
