Simple Chapati
Simple chapati is a traditional Indian flatbread made by kneading whole wheat flour with water and cooking on a skillet.

| Ingredient | Qty. | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Whole Wheat Flour (finely ground) | 500 | Grams |
| Water (room temperature) | 300 | Milliliters |
| Salt (fine sea salt) | 1 | Tsp |
| Ghee (melted, for brushing) | 2 | Tbsp |
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, mixing with your hand to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Flatten each ball slightly and roll it out into a thin circle about 6 inches in diameter using a rolling pin.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and place a rolled-out chapati on it.
- Cook for about 30 seconds or until bubbles start to form, then flip the chapati.
- Cook the other side for another 30 seconds, pressing gently with a spatula to help it puff up.
- Remove from the skillet and brush with melted ghee. Repeat with remaining dough balls.
