Classic Fettuccine Alfredo is prepared by combining cooked pasta with a creamy sauce made from butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese.

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine pasta until al dente, according to package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Pour the heavy cream into the skillet and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture, stirring continuously until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Drain the cooked pasta, reserving a cup of pasta water. Add the pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat. Use reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency if needed.
  7. Serve the Fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
